D-Backs, Nuggets, Magic excel

The Arizona Diamondbacks sink their teeth into the top this week!

June 3-June 9, 2012

1st Gold Star: Arizona Diamondbacks

Arizona Diamondbacks President & CEO Derrick Hall took part in a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil the D-backs Pediatric Dental Suite at A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH). A.T. Still University is a 2011 recipient of the D-backs’ $50,000 Grand Slam Award funded by the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation. A portion of the funds from the Grand Slam award will go toward providing uncompensated oral care for children from low income families. Children ages birth to 12 from low income, working poor families receive care at ASDOH’s pediatric clinic. Most of them are uninsured (93.77%), or have parents who are either unemployed or are struggling to pay their bills. Awesome job, D-Backs!

Additionally, D-backs outfielder Chris Young will host kids from various branches of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix at a D-backs game during each homestand from now through August. Young will donate the tickets and provide $10 in D-bucks for each kid to be used on food and beverage options at Chase Field. Kids will have the opportunity to meet Young on the field prior to the game. How awesome is that?

2nd Gold Star: Denver Nuggets
