Royals spread Christmas cheer

The fourth annual Royals Charities Kids Holiday Party will host 80 area children at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday, December 11. The Kansas City Royals and Royal Charities will welcome children from four area organizations – Della Lamb, El Centro, Inc., Niles Home and Operation Breakthrough.  A special guest, Royals pitcher Danny Duffy, will be partaking in the events as well.

Duffy will read “The Night Before Christmas” to the children before giving them an opportunity to make ornaments and decorate holiday cards. Each child will receive a gift from Santa Claus purchased by the Royals associates and leave with a stocking full of goodies.

The Royals will also team up the Topeka Police Department’s Cops and Kids event on Saturday, December 8. Police officers will pair up with children from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Topeka to assist them with their holiday shopping beginning at 8:30 a.m. at a WalMart in Topeka. Sluggerrr will make a special appearance to visit the children at the store from 8:30-9:30 a.m. The cops will then assist members of TARC with their shopping beginning at 10 a.m. at another Walmart location.
