This just in: New Orleans Saints star quarterback and community role model, Drew Brees, has stated that his personal charity, the Dream Foundation, will be donating $1 million dollars to Sandy relief efforts. “Superstorm Sandy” is estimated as the second costliest storm in U.S. history, behind hurricane Katrina, and donations like this will go a long way in helping families rebuild and regain a sense of normalcy.
Drew’s efforts to make a difference won’t stop there, though, as he stated that he and his wife, Brittany, will also be donating $2 million to various organizations in New Orleans over the next few months.
Brees continues to make a difference in his community through his charitable efforts. Since its inception in 2003, the Brees Dream Foundation has given over $7,000,000 to charitable causes and academic institutions throughout communities of New Orleans, San Diego, West Lafayette and Purdue. The Foundation exists to “advance research in the fight against Cancer and provide care, education and opportunities for children in need,” according to the Brees Dream Foundation website. The Foundation also supports more than 10 initiatives to meet the needs of individuals throughout the community including such causes as eradicating hunger and supporting veterans.
