Ryan Dempster stays classy

On Saturday, Chicago Cubs right hander Ryan Dempster continued his dominance on the pitchers mound.  This time against the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Dempster threw six scoreless innings, he has not given up a run now in the past 33 innings pitched.  This matched a club record set in 1969 by Ken Holtzman.

But, that’s not all…

On Monday, the Dempster Family Foundation was selected as a Top 5 Regional Finalist in the Midwest Region for the “4th Annual CLASSY Awards”.  The foundation was selected from 2,400 nominees in the “Most Effective Awareness Campaign”.  In June, the foundation submitted their nomination for their awareness campaign entitled “Dempster Family Foundation Strike Out 22q Awareness Campaign”.  The 22q11.2 deletion syndrome is a chromosomal abnormality that can cause a wide array of health and developmental issues.
