Now we can see why the Kentucky Wildcats won the college basketball national championship in dominating fashion. Last night, on a night where dreams really do come true, the reigning champs had 6 players taken in the first two rounds of the 2012 NBA Draft.
For the first time in history, two players from the same college team were drafted with the first two picks, as Anthony Davis was taken 1st overall by the New Orleans Hornets and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was taken 2nd overall by the Charlotte Bobcats.
Other Wildcats drafted:
18. Terrence Jones, Houston Rockets
29. Marquis Teague, Chicago Bulls
42. Doron Lamb, Milwaukee Bucks
46. Darius Miller, New Orleans Hornets
Obviously, NBA scouts saw the same thing we did last season; a team that was probably good enough to compete in the NBA, let alone the college ranks!
TGiS wishes the best of luck to these former Cats next season and here’s to healthy and properous careers for them and the rest of the NBA draftees on this very special night.
