Ziegler, Breslow, Putz, Bieber Fever?

I never thought TGiS would have an article about Justin Bieber, but alas, it does! J.J. Putz, relief pitcher of the Arizona Diamondbacks, is auctioning off a Bieber autographed card for the charities of teammates Craig Breslow and Brad Ziegler. Ok, before we continue, this begs the question: How in the world did Putz get an autographed Biebs card (2012 Panini Justin Bieber 2.0 Autographed Card)? Does Putz have Bieber Fever (see photo)?

Well, according to reports, Ziegler toured the card company’s headquarters and came back with two boxes of the trading cards. Ok, maybe Ziegler has Bieber fever. When he, Putz and Breslow began opening the cards, J.J. landed the rare trading jewel. While we could stop here and begin to wonder why the guys opened the cards instead of say, giving them to Putz’s twin daughters, we won’t, because, well, charities are going to benefit from it and that’s nothing but a good thing (nice save, guys).

Said Putz of the decision to auction the card instead of giving it to his girls:

“Given the way I obtained this card, I think the only responsible course is to donate it to charity. I have the chance to raise money and awareness for two important causes. Besides, convincing my twin girls I was better off taking them to Justin Bieber’s Believe Tour kickoff concert on Sept. 29 in Phoenix rather than keeping the card, put me in the running for father of the year.”

Well done, dad. For those interested in some Bieber Fever, the auction is at www.dbacks.com/auctions and will run through July 1 at 9 p.m. PT, with the proceeds split between Breslow’s “Strike 3 Foundation” and Ziegler’s “Pastime For Patriots” charity.
